Founded in 1964, the W. H. Patterson Gallery has been at 19 Albemarle Street in Mayfair, London since that date. Originally specialising in 19th Century English and Continental paintings, over the past fifteen years the gallery has increasingly been exhibiting leading English contemporary painters.
In July 2010, the W. H. Patterson Gallery opened a series of weekend exhibition rooms at Chard Robinson Group's offices, at 2 Hills Road, Cambridge; completed c.1824, 2 Hills Road is a fine, two-storey Georgian building featuring original plaster dressings, architraves, friezes and an entrance flanked by fluted Corinthian columns. Mouldings and fireplaces from Wanstead House – a mansion house built in Essex in 1715 and demolished in 1824 – also form part of the premises’ interior, all serving to create the perfect setting in which to showcase the art.
This exciting new Cambridge base for the gallery is open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays, from 10am-4pm, and currently features collections by Robert E. Wells, Pieter Wagemans and Clive McCartney. Pieces change bi-monthly, reflecting those also on display in Mayfair.
